LogCase App Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 September 2026
Version 5.20

These terms cover the LogCase iPhone app. The app is provided by BrachistaLog Holdings Inc.

Using the app

The app is free, and is meant to be used with a LogCase you own. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not take the app apart, copy it, or try to work around the parts that identify a genuine case.

Your account

You can use the app as a guest or create an account. An account is what ties a case to you, which is what makes the warranty and any transfer of ownership work.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen. Doing so removes your account details and your case registration, and disassociate the warranty record tied to it. Favourites on your iPhone are not touched.

Registering a case

A LogCase is registered to the first account that claims it. The one-year warranty starts on that date.

A case can be passed to somebody else, and the app will move the registration when they claim it. Anyone holding the case can do this, so treat the case as you would any other physical possession.

Registering a case you do not own, or claiming one that is not yours, is a misuse of the app.

Images you cast

The pictures you cast are yours. We do not receive them, so we do not moderate them and take no responsibility for them.

You are responsible for having the right to use any image you cast, including photographs of other people.

Images in the app's gallery are provided for use on your own case. Some come from museum collections and are in the public domain. Others are ours. Do not redistribute them or use them commercially.

The case itself

Casting relies on NFC, so the app needs a compatible iPhone held against the case. How well an image comes out depends on the picture, the panel and the conditions, and it may not match what you see on screen. E-paper renders a limited set of colours by design.

Warranty terms for the hardware are those given at purchase.

Availability

We may change, suspend or stop parts of the app. We try not to break things people rely on, but we do not promise the app will always be available or free of faults.

Some features need an internet connection. Casting a photo from your phone does not.

Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it, including loss of images you did not keep a copy of elsewhere.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for consumer rights you hold under the law of your country.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will ask you to read and accept the new version. Continuing to use the app after a small correction means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. This does not remove any protection you have under the law of the country you live in.

LogCase App Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 September 2026
App Version 5.20

This policy covers the LogCase iPhone app. It does not cover purchases made on brachistalog.com, which are covered by our store policy.

LogCase is made by BrachistaLog Holdings Inc.

The short version

- Your photos stay on your phone. We do not have them and cannot see them.
- We hold your account details, which case you own, and when you registered it.
- We use Firebase, by Google, to do that.
- You can delete everything from inside the app.

Photos you cast

When you choose a photo and send it to your LogCase, the picture is prepared on
your iPhone and written to the case over NFC. It does not pass through our servers at any point.

Favourites

Saving a favourite writes the image to storage inside the app on your iPhone. We do not receive a copy and cannot see it.

If you turn on Back up to iCloud in Account, a copy is also placed in your own iCloud, in the private area Apple reserves for you. We can see how many records exist and how much space they take. We cannot open them, and neither can Apple's staff on our behalf. It is off unless you turn it on, and turning it off offers to delete the copies.

Favourites saved before September 2026

Earlier versions of the app uploaded favourites to our servers so that you could have an access to your favourites from a different phone device. The first time you open the updated app, those images are copied to your iPhone and deleted from our servers. Nothing is kept behind.

What we do hold

Your account

  • Email address: To identify your account and contact you about your order or warranty
  • Name: Shown in the app; you choose it
  • Profile photo: Only if you set one
  • Sign-in method: Email and password, Apple, or Google
  • Date you joined: Shown in the app, and used for warranty
  • Marketing preference: Whether you agreed to hear from us

You can use the app without an account, as a guest. A guest account holds no email or name.

Your LogCase

  • Device serial: Read from the case itself. Identifies which case is yours
  • Owner: Which account the case belongs to
  • Registration date: When it was first registered, which starts the warranty

Diagnostics

If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a report so we can fix it: the model of iPhone, the iOS version, and where in the code it failed. It is tied to your account ID so we can tell whether one person hit the same crash repeatedly. It contains none of your photos.

The app also includes Firebase Analytics, which records general usage such as which screens are opened and how often the app is launched. This is used to understand how the app is used, not to identify you personally.

Who else is involved

  • Google (Firebase): Account details, case registration, crash reports, usage statistics
  • Apple (iCloud): Your favourites, encrypted in your own private area, only if you turn backup on
  • Mailchimp: Your email address, only if you agreed to marketing

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising.

Permissions the app asks for

  • NFC: To read your case and write images to it. This is the core of the product, and NFC works only when you hold the phone against the case.
  • Photo library: To let you pick a photo to cast. The app reads only the picture you choose. It does not browse your library or upload anything.

Where your information is held

Firebase stores data on Google's servers, which may be outside your country. By using the app you agree to that transfer. Google's security measures are described in their own documentation.

iCloud backups of your favourites are held by Apple, in the region Apple assigns to your Apple Account.

How long we keep things

Your account details and case registration are kept while your account exists. Delete your account and they are deleted with it, including any profile photo.

Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.

Favourites on your iPhone are yours. They are removed when you delete them, or when you delete the app.

What you can do

  • See what we hold: Most of it is visible in the app, on the Account screen. For anything else, write to us.
  • Correct it: Your name and email can be changed in the app.
  • Delete it: Account, then Delete Account. This removes your account details, your case registration and your profile photo from our servers. Favourites on your iPhone are not affected, because we never had them.
  • Stop marketing email: Turn it off in the app or use the unsubscribe link in any message.
  • Ask us anything: Contact details are below. If you are in a country with data protection law, such as Japan under the APPI or the EU under the GDPR, the rights that law gives you apply, and this section does not limit them.

Children

LogCase is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Photographs of children very often end up on a phone case, and that is part of why favourites are kept on your own device rather than ours.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will ask you to read and accept the new version. Small corrections will appear here with a new date.
