LogCase Full Colour passes its CE and water tests

In October, LogCase Full Colour went through its formal tests at independent labs. It passed every one: CE for the European Union, covering electromagnetic compatibility and restricted substances, and IPX4 for water. Here is what was tested, and what the results mean when the case is on your iPhone.
CE: two sets of EU rules
The CE mark says a product meets the EU rules that apply to it. For LogCase Full Colour there are two.
Electromagnetic compatibility (Directive 2014/30/EU). The case must not disturb other electronics, and it must keep working when they are nearby. The lab measured what the case gives off to EN 55032, and how it copes with interference to EN 55035.
Restricted substances (RoHS, Directive 2011/65/EU). Lead, mercury, cadmium and the other listed substances must stay under strict limits in every part. The materials were tested by the IEC 62321 methods.

With both reports in hand, we signed the EU Declaration of Conformity on 28 October. The CE mark is printed on the EU label of every box. LogCase has no radio transmitter, so the EU radio directive does not apply to it.

IPX4: splash resistant
IP ratings come from the standard IEC 60529. The first digit is for dust and the second for water. LogCase Full Colour is rated IPX4: the X means dust was not part of the test, and the 4 means protection against water splashed from any direction.
In the test, water was sprayed over the case from every side. The case worked normally before and after, and no water got inside. The lab tested the Pro Max model in black as the hardest case; the result covers all four models.

In daily life, that means rain, a splash at the sink or a spilled drink are fine. It is not waterproof, though: do not put it under water or hold it under a strong jet.
